The Lucknow Centre came into the possession of the Maha Bodhi Society of India in 1953. Ven. Bodhananda Maha Thero, the founder of Lucknow Buddhist Temple had so much confidence in Ven. Devapriya Valisinha – the able assistant of Bodhisattva Anagarika A Dharmapala and the second ever General Secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society of India, that he decided to bequeath the temple to the Society by will. The centre serves the local and foreign pilgrims while they pass Lucknow and there are various Dharma activities for the devotees.
