Ven. P Seewalee Thero was born in Badulla district of Sri Lanka. His father and mother were H. M. R. Bandara and N. W. Premawati respectively. He had his ordination at Mulagiri Raja Mahaviharaya, Peleata in Monaragala District of Sri Lanka In 1978 and his monastic education at Vidyalankara Pirivena, Colombo.
He has served as Bhikkhu-In-Charge of Buddhagaya and Sarnath Centre of Maha Bodhi Society of India and currently serving as the General Secretary of Maha Bodhi Society of India since 2016.
